GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The warm weather we've all been waiting for is finally here just in time for the unofficial start of the summer season, Memorial Day weekend
Chef Char Morse joined the 13 ON YOUR SIDE weekend morning team with some fun ways to spice up your festivities with some special cocktails.
- 1 slice fresh lime
- Red decorating sugar
- 5 each Fresh blueberries
- 2 each Fresh strawberries, sliced
- 3 each Fresh raspberries
- Seedless watermelon, sliced and cut into star shapes
- 5 oz. Club Soda or Sparkling Wine
- Splash Grenadine or Blue Curacao
Using the fresh lime, coat the rim of your choice of cocktail glass with lime juice and dip glass in red decorating sugar. Fill glass with ice. Add the fruit to the glass, over the ice. Place a star-shaped watermelon on the rim of the glass for decoration. Fill glass most of the way with club soda or sparkling wine. Add a splash of grenadine (for a red cocktail) or a splash of blue curacao (for a blue cocktail). Add a straw and enjoy!
Chef Char is hosting an Outdoor BBQ and Salt Block class on July 12th from 6pm to 8pm at Kitchen 242 in the Muskegon Farmers Market, downtown Muskegon. Tickets will be available through Eventbrite.
