Sister Cities Grand Rapids & Perugia celebrate anniversary with tour to Italy

Mayor Rosalynn Bliss and Chef Jenna Arcidiacono co-host cultural exchange.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Perugia Sister Cities committee has announced a tour to Perugia, Italy to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Perugia/Grand Rapids Sister City connection.

“The Grand Rapids Perugia committee is thrilled to have this tour visit Umbria and its capital, our wonderful sister city." said Denise Taylor, Perugia Sister Cities committee member. "Sharing Perugia's art, history, culture, food and friendships with Grand Rapidians is the goal of our sister city program.”

The tour is limited to 16 travelers and will take place from October 14—21, 2018. Mayor Rosalynn Bliss and Chef Jenna Arcidiacono of Amore Trattoria Italiana will co-host the tour.

Perugia is the capital of Umbria with a rich history of art, culture, and cuisine. The group will be welcomed and hosted by Perugia city officials.

“I look forward to engaging with The City of Perugia, exchanging ideas, and being immersed in the local culture.” said Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalynn Bliss.

The week will feature special institutional activity to honor the anniversary, plus excursions throughout the region, and culinary experiences.

The tour is operated by Onward Travel, a small group tour agency based in New York. Chef Jenna Arcidiacono and Onward Travel have operated 6 group tours in Italy.

“This is a special opportunity to be guests, not tourists, with a meaningful cultural exchange and lots of fun guaranteed.” said Chef Jenna Arcidiacono.

Space is available for Grand Rapids community members who would like to join this tour.

A detailed itinerary including the day-by-day program and package pricing is at www.onwardtravel.co/grperugia.
