Woman with cerebral palsy makes toy donation to honor her mom

Bekki Landman was three months old when she was adopted from Calcutta, India. Today, she honored her mom's sacrifice with a donation to Toys for Tots.

We want to share with you a story that we didn't have to hunt down or uncover. It simply showed up at our front door and truly reflects the spirit of the season.

On Tuesday afternoon Dec. 19, Bekki Landman stopped by WZZM 13 with a generous donation for this year's Toys for Tots campaign. Bekki has Cerebral Palsy and was adopted from Calcutta, India in 1985 when she was just three months old.

Instead of asking for presents for herself, Bekki told her friends on Facebook this year to each donate two toys to Toys for Tots. She says it's a tribute to her mom.

"I was raised by the best single mom in Grand Rapids," Landman told us, "She worked very hard for her paycheck, so my sister and I never went without a Christmas."

Landman says her mom has passed away and her sister is now married with children and lives in Texas.

Today Bekki, with the help of her friends, donated more than 100 toys. She said the donation is a way to honor her mother and thank her for everything she did for her and her sister over the years.
