Bier Distillery and Hand2Hand partner for 5k

Participants get a complimentary Mint Julep Sweet Tea and are helping students in West Michigan

For the third year, Bier Distillery is working to help people in the West Michigan community. The Comstock Park business is partnering with Hand2Hand for the Bier Distillery 5K to help feed students.

The race starts at 10:30 a.m. May 4 at the distillery. The 5K and the one mile routes both utilize the White Pine Trail system. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to benefit Hand2Hand. The non-profit works to help thousands of students in 167 schools. Part of their mission is addressing the 68 hours over every weekend that students don't have access to school provided meals.

The goal is to provide 500 non-perishable goods. Runners and walkers are asked to bring 2 items with them in order to participate.

Participants in the 5K will get a complimentary Mint Julep Sweet Tea cocktail once they finish. Joel Bierling from Bier Distillery joined us in studio and showed us how to make it.

  • 2 oz. Crescent Creek Bourbon
  • 2 oz. mint-tea syrup
  • 4 oz. Reverse Osmosis water

Top with ice

Squeeze in 1 lemon wedge and drop wedge in

Garnish with Hay, straw and mint sprig
