Skateboarders in Grand Rapids hand out clothing to the homeless

Monday night a local group of skaters handed out shirts, hats, socks and more to the homeless in downtown Grand Rapids.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Some local students are using their love for skateboarding to help the community.

"We've started a small chapter here in Grand Rapids, and we are hoping to help our community," says Abigail Love.

Skate for Change is a national non-profit organization that promotes community involvement through the love of skateboarding.

Monday night a local group of skaters handed out shirts, hats, socks and more to the homeless in downtown Grand Rapids.

"We come out here and skateboard all the time, and we see people out here sitting with no food and their clothes are dirty so we wanted to help," says Love.

This is second local Skate for Change event in the past year.
