The Disability Network - Lakeshore recognized Barbara Newman of Grand Haven with their seventh annual Ability Award. Barbara works as a teacher, consultant, author, speaker and ministry director.

When she got the award, the Disability Network called Newman an inclusive pioneer, who has impacted thousands of churches and children with disabilities through perseverance, innovation, love and wisdom.

She's been at it for more than three decades, using her background in special education to shape inclusive, interdependent faith communities in the U.S. and Canada. And now, she's helping churches apply principles of universal design in worship practices.

For everything she's done, Barbara Newman gets today's One Good Thing. Thanks to Brian Dykhuis for letting me know.
