One Good Thing: Grow A Row

The Mason County program asks home gardeners to save a row of their vegetables for people in the area who are hungry.

Today's One Good Thing is for green thumbs who also have big hearts.

In Ludington, the Lakeshore Food Club is teaming up with the Mason County Garden Club to launch, "Grow A Row." Essentially, they're asking home gardners to set aside one row in the veggie gardens... and donate that row's worth of food to people in Mason County who are hungry. It's a program they hope will be transformational. It can both feed the hungry... and make us all healthier and more connected to our neighbors. They point out that when families' budgets are stretched, one of the first things cut are fruits and vegetables.

For making an effort to get fresh, healthy food to people who need it most the "Grow a Row" program gets today's One Good Thing. If anyone out there is interested in knowing more can check out THEIR WEBSITE, or EMAIL THEM.
