One Good Thing: Kelly Ellis and Base Camp

Kelly Ellis works for Base Camp, an urban ministry in Grand Rapids. They need some help to buy a new bus.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Today's OGT is recognition of someone who makes a huge difference in the lives of a ton of kids and could use a little help right now.

This is Kelly Ellis. She works at Base Camp. Base Camp is an urban ministry group that's been in operation for 52 years. The person who nominated her says Kelly mentors and teachers kids in some of the roughest parts of Grand Rapids. But recently, Base Camp's 15 passenger van broke down and they're asking for some assistance to buy a new one.

In a Facebook post, Kelly says they've never approached their friends for anything like this before. But, they're first priority is the kids' safety. And, she says the current van concerns them too much to continue using it.

Now, the good news is, as of Friday night, they've already raised 25 percent of the money they need.

If you'd like to help them get that new van, go HERE. Kelly Ellis and Base Camp get today's One Good Thing.
