Senior Wellness: Utilizing the Kent County Senior Millage

Seniors in Kent County have a special opportunity to take advantage of services right here in West Michigan.

With the new year underway, the Kent County Senior Millage is making a difference in 2019. The Senior Millage helps seniors in Kent County by offering a number of programs meant to help make life a little bit easier. The goal is to help those 60 years old or older live more comfortably in their own homes.

More then 30 agencies provide the programs offered by the millage. In 2019, funding will be provided for more than 50 unique services, including adult day programs, in-home care, transportation and home delivered meals. These are the same kinds of things that were offered in 2018. A new service being offered in 2019 is gently used mobility equipment from Alternatives in Motion.

The Kent County Senior Millage was approved in 1998 for a period of 8 years, again in 2006, and in 2014. The Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan can help you navigate the services.

Here's the deal, in order to qualify you must be over the age of 60 and live in Kent County. If you want to donate to the programs that are part of this millage you can do so.
