Moms healthy habits influence child's obesity risk

There are some healthy habits moms can do to reduce their child's risk of obesity.

Nearly one in five children in the U.S. are considered obese.

The study out of Harvard examined 24-thousand children throughout the 1990s. Of them, 5-point-3 percent became obese during the follow up period. The good news is that this study also found five healthy habits moms can do to reduce the risk of obesity by 75 percent.

They include:

1. Maintaining a healthy body weight

2. Never smoking

3. Getting 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise per week

4. Eating a healthy diet

5. And drinking alcohol at a low or moderate level

The study also found women who drank a low or moderate amount of alcohol had more positive results than mothers who didn't drink.

There are some limitations to this study. Including the fact that most people aren't completely honest when they take surveys.
