Yoga in the palm of your hand

You can get the all the benefits of yoga right in the palm of your hand. This series of hand gestures have actual health benefits.

Here are a few to try:

  • Shunya Mudra: Bend your middle finger towards the palm of your hand, then apply gentle pressure with your thumb. Breathe in and then out. Ideally, you'd hold for 30 seconds. This one helps you relax when you're bored and also helps with vertigo.
  • Gyan Mudra: This helps you feel more motivated at work. It looks a little like the classic meditation hand position. Touch your index finger to your thumb. Slowly breathe in and out and hold for 30 seconds or longer if you can. This will boost your enthusiasm and creativity.
  • Varun Mudra: This helps anyone suffering from arthritis, mood swings or if you're dehydrated. Touch the tip of your pinky to the tip of you thumb. There are some variations on this -- you can either touch the tip or slightly bend the pinky and apply pressure to with your thumb. Again, breathe in and out and hold for 30 seconds.
