Snow and ice can cause issues for seniors, keeping them stuck inside -- or causing them to slip and fall.
Removing it can also pose a problem. Seniors trying to get rid of the snow on their front walk or driveway can easily overexert themselves, or slip.
Falls are more dangerous for seniors, whose bodies aren't as well equipped to heal as the bodies of younger people.
According to the National Council on Aging, falls are the leading cause of fractures, hospital admissions for trauma, and injury deaths. A quarter of hip fracture patients will be in a nursing home for at least a year.
To avoid issues, seniors can take advantage of services provided by contractors that will do those more dangerous chores for them.
