Downtown office building to be purchased for DeVos family offices

RDV Corp. said it plans to buy the vacant building on Monroe Avenue across from the DeVos Performance Hall.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A 100,000 sq. foot office building in downtown Grand Rapids will likely be purchased by RDV Corporation to be turned into headquarters for the DeVos family.

RDV Corp. announced that it plans to buy the building at 200 Monroe Ave. and the DeVos family foundations will move into the renovated space.

Construction is expected to start this winter and will last for about 2½ years.

The 200 Monroe building was built in 1967 and was last occupied by Fifth Third Bank. The Grand Rapids Business Journal reports that Fifth Third vacated the building after consolidating its space into 111 Lyon St. NW.

"We believe that 200 Monroe is an important piece of downtown's core," said Dick DeVos, RDV Corporation Chairman. "We're excited to breathe new life into this more than 50-year-old building, modernizing its overall appearance and opening it up to street level."

The 200 Monroe Ave. building is across the street from the DeVos Performance Hall.
