CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Jim Gill has resigned, effective immediately, as CEO and president of the Gerald R. Ford International Airport.
According to the airport, he is transitioning into a consulting role which will "allow him to pursue opportunities in the private sector that have been presented to him."
Brian Picardat has been chosen by the board to serve as interim CEO while the airport opens a national search for a permanent replacement. Picardat's official title is vice president and chief financial officer. He has been with the airport for 30 years.
Dan Koorndyk, chairman of the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Authority Board, said under Gill's leadership, the airport has seen double-digit growth in passengers and non-airline revenue.
"Jim is respected throughout the aeronautics industry,'' Koorndyk said. "He brought tremendous airport operational knowledge to West Michigan, allowing us to undertake significant enhancements to Ford airport.''
