If you want to check out Amazon Prime, now is the time

Despite the first few hours getting off to a rocky start with computer issues, Amazon’s Prime Day sales are bigger than ever. But to take advantage of the deals, you must be a member.

But is the Prime Membership worth it? 13 ON YOUR SIDE's Consumer Reporter Sarah Sell said for those of you who don't do a lot of online shopping, probably not. For those that do, it's a great way to get items delivered quickly, right to your door.

Amazon Spokesperson Lori Torgerson said, “You get access to a wide selection of products and deals. You also get fast, free shipping. You get tons of great content, whether it’s an Amazon TV series or movie.”

Prime Day started Monday at 3 p.m. The company says it had a rough start as customers were temporarily unable to make purchases.The problem was fixed by late afternoon and the deals resumed.

Amazon says it's posting hundreds of thousands of new deals.

Customers can check back often and download the free Amazon App to use the Watch-A-Deal feature.

The membership cost is $119 a year, but you can sign up for a 30 day free trial.

To fully take advantage of the yearly membership, you would have to order about 10 to 20 items throughout the year, to make back your money. Of course, you also must factor in the convenience. Prime deals show up on your doorstep in two days.
