Shop & Scan allows users to scan the bar codes of items via the app. A running total of the digital cart is available while customers shop through the store. Once a shopper has everything they need, they just scan their phone at the self-check out lanes, pay and bag up their items. If shoppers prefer, they can use reusable shopping bags and load up items right in the aisles.

And to make the shopping experience even smoother, Meijer says mPerks coupons and rewards are automatically applied to Shop & Scan orders at checkout.

The Shop & Scan program will continue rolling out in Meijer stores in the coming weeks and will be available at all 235 Meijer stores later this year.

The Shop & Scan is available on both Apple and Android app stores.
