Try It Before You Buy It: Arctic Air Ultra Fan

We are testing out the "Arctic Air Ultra fan." It claims it can cool you down with the help of water. Does it work? We try it before you buy it!

Today's try it is hopefully a cool one.

We are testing out the Arctic Air Ultra fan. Will it cool you down better than a standard fan?

Does it even compete with air conditioning?

Enough with the questions.

Let's try it before you buy it!

Opening the box, we found a power cable, a fan, and a filter. We noticed right away that the power cord is short, so you will need to have an outlet close by if you want to put it on a table. And the fan inside looks like a giant computer fan, and sounds like one.

On top, there are two simple buttons. The power-on button also controls the fan's speed, and then you have the light off button. The night light automatically turns on when pressing the power button. Our first test was to see how it handles normal air without adding any water to the filters, and it made no dent in the air temperature (73 degrees).

Next, we added water to the top chamber, this slowly drips down a plastic shield in front of the fan, and we checked the temperature, and it dropped 2 degrees. Then we ran the filter under cold tap water and inserted it into the fan. We instantly noticed a temperature change. Using our thermometer, it was reading around 68 degrees, so about five degrees cooler than the air in the room.

We decided to freeze the filter and tested it out. The air was five degrees cooler than just regular tap water, but it only lasted for about ten minutes. Not worth the time it took to freeze the filter

Overall, we found that it cooled down the air. Its comfort distance is about eight feet with approximately a five-foot width. It's small and portable, and easy to store when not in use.

So, the verdict.

The positives:

-We did see a drop in temperature

-It's very lightweight and easy to store

-Dish washable filter

The negatives:

-The power cord was way too short, and you are very limited with where you can use it.

-Water inside can spill out

We feel if you're looking for an excellent way to cool down, then this is a buy it!
