Try It Before You Buy It: Livefine Automatic Pill Dispenser

We test out a simple device that promises to securely keep track of your medications.

MICHIGAN, USA — Do you forget to take your pills?

Need an easier way to keep track of your medication?

The Livefine Automatic Pill Dispenser promises to be an easy, secure way to keep track of medication.

But does it work? Let's try it!

The Livefine Automatic Pill Dispenser comes in at around $80 and promises up to 28 days of medication dispensing, depending on the doses. Inside the box, you'll find the dispenser, dosage rings, the instructions and two keys, plus batteries.

Installing the batteries was easy, and putting in the dosage ring went smooth. For this test, we went with the two-dose a day ring.

Next up is setting up the clock. It was pretty easy. Then we set the sound level for the alarms and then entered our desired medication times. The dispenser will deliver your medicine at these times indicated every day. We noticed that the channels to fill your medication might be too narrow for some people to drop the pill into easily.

After getting everything set up, we locked the top and waited. While we waited, we noticed you could touch the dispenser, and it would display the time. Speaking of when it was time for our medicine, the device rotated to the next compartment and began alerting us with an alarm and a light. It kept alarming us every seven seconds. Once we turned the dispenser over, it stopped.

Getting the medicine out was simple. You slide the door back and turn it upside down to get it out. When our next alarm event came up, it repeated the process. It continued this for days with no problems. And if, for some reason, you need to change your dosing, you can easily pull the carousel out and empty it and start again. You just put the carousel back in its home location and reset the clocks.

We found the Livefine Automatic Pill Dispenser worked great for our test. It is a bit big, so it could be hard for some people to hold and use. Plus, its size might encourage drops. We didn't try dropping it, but it doesn't seem like it could take too many falls.

So the results:

The positives:

  • Easy to use, set up and secure
  • Easy to clean the compartments
  • The alarm and light were great for reminders

The negatives:

  • Pill slots might be complicated for some people to get medication in
  • Durability for when it's dropped is questionable

If you're looking for a better medication solution or want to help a loved one with theirs, the Livefine Automatic Pill Dispenser should do the trick. Since it lived up to its promises, we rate this as "Buy It."
