Try It Before You Buy It: Grillbot

Does the Grillbot take the hassle out of cleaning your grill?

Do you dread cleaning your grill?

Looking for the easy way out?

Then the Grillbot might be for you, but does it work?

We Try It Before You Buy It!

the Grillbot comes with the grill cleaning robot and a charging cable that plugs into any USB port, but the one thing missing is a plug for the wall. So, you’ll need to grab one if you don't have one.

Charging took about four hours. Its LCD screen lets you know it’s charging. When finished, it will beep.

We decided to test this out on a cool grill. We brushed two small sections on the sides with a grill brush to have something to compare it to later. We put the Grillbot on and selected a thirty-minute cycle as the instructions indicated. It sounded like a rabid animal trying to escape. It gave an audible sound and stopped when it finished. After opening up the grill cover and looing at the grill. You could see a nice amount of dust that still needs to be wipe away. so, it’s not as easy as a push of a button, plus a lot of the old caked-on stuff was still present.

Next, we tried it with a warmed-up grill. We got it up to temp and then let it cool off under the recommended temperature of $250. With it nice and warm, we put it back on, and after another long wait and some battling under the hood, it stopped. There was a bunch of debris, but the grill still wasn’t sparkling clean.

Next we tested the heat sensor, and it never went off. If your grill isn’t below 250 degrees, it will melt.

Finally, we stuck the brushes in the dishwasher, and it did a great job getting them clean.

Overall. We were not impressed with the Grillbot. The only real positive was cleaning the rollers, but all the time and money we spent on this robot was not worth it..

So, the results:

The positives

  • Lightweight, simple to use
  • Can be cleaned in the dishwasher
  • Worked on the big stuff

The negatives

  • No plug for the power cable
  • It’s lightweight plastic and has no weight to scrub deep
  • It leaves behind particles

The Grillbot seems to be more work than it’s worth a simple grill brush takes less than two minutes and does a better job.  So, we give this a consider it.
