Heart of West Michigan United Way is kicking off tax season with the Kent County Tax Credit Coalition (KCTCC).
Since 2002, the Coalition has generated more than $73 million dollars in tax credits for over 61,000 taxpayers in Kent County.
Heart of West Michigan United Way says the goal is to help people achieve economic success by helping people file their tax returns and file tax credit claims while also informing people about news changes to the tax law.
For example, anyone claiming the Earned Income Tax or Child Tax credits, the IRS is required to hold refunds until February 15, 2017.
To schedule a free tax prep appointment with the KCTCC, call 2-1-1.
If you made less than $62,000 last year, you can also file your taxes for free here.
