Coast Guard Festival 2018: Worship on the Waterfront

Worship on the Waterfront is expected to draw thousands to the newly renovated Waterfront Stadium in Grand Haven on Sunday as the Coast Guard Festival concludes

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. -- Thousands of people are expected to fill the newly renovated waterfront stadium in Grand Haven for Worship on the Waterfront this Sunday night.

The event is hosted every Sunday night in the summer by Grand Haven First Reformed Church. One of the series' most popular bands is returning for the Coast Guard festival: 7th Time Down.

You are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and low backed chairs to enjoy music played by Christian bands...some of local fame...others known around the world.

This is the first year the weekly event is being held in the newly renovated waterfront stadium.

13 ON YOUR SIDE spoke with Pastor John Kenny who couldn't be happier with the new venue. "Before we had an old bleacher stadium just sitting on concrete and the city has made just a tremendous investment in renewing this area. It's just so new and aesthetically so pleasing. The city did a fantastic job and anyone who has been down here just loves it."

First Reformed in Grand Haven started Worship on the Waterfront over 75 years ago. Pastor John tells us on any given week they can have between 2-4 thousand people in attendance.

In addition to blankets and low backed chairs, Pastor John recommends bringing sunglasses because you'll be looking into the sun.

Gates open at 6:15 on Sunday, the event begins at 7. It's totally free. Click here to check out the WOW schedule for the rest of the summer.
