Crossbow death ruled homicide, arrest made

Police say a medical examiner ruled the Norton Shores man's death a homicide on Thursday.

Police have made an arrest for the murder of a 20-year-old Norton Shores man.

The victim, Marcus Olmstead, was found dead on his family's driveway on Wednesday, Dec. 26. 

Police said the suspect is a 20-year-old from Grant. He was located and arrested Thursday in Grand Rapids and now faces an open murder charge. He will be arraigned Friday afternoon.

The suspect allegedly shot Olmstead in the chest using a crossbow. Norton Shores police say the two young men knew each other prior to the incident. 

The suspect is currently being lodged at the Muskegon County Jail.
