Man who police say killed Kent County couple was due in court for domestic violence charge

After several hours, a tactical unit entered the home and found Bruce Huntley dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

SPENCER TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Police say the son in law of a Kent County woman is responsible for her and her boyfriend's death.

Bruce Huntley, 33, was married to Samantha Huntley and they had two children together. Police say after a domestic dispute about a week ago, Samantha went to stay with her mother, Lisa Bradley.

Bradley, 58, lived at the home with her long-time boyfriend, 54-year-old James Cole.

On Saturday, Sept. 22, Bruce forced his way into the home and shot and killed Bradley and Cole. Bruce then kidnapped his wife and kids and took them back to their apartment.

When police arrived at the apartment, they were able to make contact with Samantha who told them she was inside with her children, being held against their will.

Police were able to negotiate their release.

Bruce remained inside and threatened to kill himself. After several hours, a tactical unit entered the home and found him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to court documents, Bruce Huntley was supposed to appear in court on Monday, Sept. 24 on one count of domestic violence.
