Police investigating 2 separate incidents: Shooting on city's SE side, double stabbing downtown

Grand Rapids Police had their hands full overnight Saturday into Sunday morning.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Grand Rapids Police are in the midst of investigating two separate incidents that happened overnight Saturday into Sunday.

There was a shooting on the city's southeast side and a double stabbing near Stella's Lounge, a popular restaurant and bar downtown.

According to authorities, the shooting happened on Delaware Street in the area of Division Avenue -- south of Franklin Street. A victim in the shooting was taken to the hospital after being shot in the leg. Police are actively investigating the incident.

The double-stabbing downtown happened at 53 Commerce Avenue. It's unclear if the incident happened inside Stella's or outside in the immediate area. Police are still working to learn more. The two victims involved were both taken to the hospital and both are expected to be okay.
