Siblings charged in Kentwood armed robbery expected in court Thursday

It started out as a date, but it actually was a set-up for a robbery and shooting involving a brother and sister working together.

KENTWOOD, Mich. - It started out as a date, but it actually was a set-up for a robbery and shooting involving a brother and sister working together.

Jocelin Soto and her younger brother Jose will appear in Kentwood District Court Thursday, Aug. 16 on armed robbery charges.

Police say 19-year-old Jocelin Soto spent the day with the intended victim and arranged to have him robbed.

The actual hold-up happened when the victim dropped her off at an apartment complex near 32nd Street and Shaffer Avenue Southeast.

Police say Soto's 17-year-old brother, Jose, pointed a gun at the victim, who sped off.

His back window was shot out as he drove away. The siblings face up to life in prison if convicted of armed robbery.
