Interviews being conducted for GRPS superintendent position

Both candidates will be interviewed tonight and the board will deliberate afterwards.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Two candidates are being interviewed Monday night for the superintendent position with Grand Rapids Public Schools.

GRPS Superintendent Teresa Weatherall Neal will be retiring at the end of the school year. She has been superintendent since 2012.

The two candidates are Devon Horton and Adrian Talley.

Horton is currently the chief of schools for Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville, Kentucky. 

Talley is the director of community schools for Prince George's County Public Schools in Maryland.

During the day Monday, GRPS invited parents and the community to a focus group to brainstorm about the qualifications of a good superintendent.
