Kenowa Hills schools hold 'wellness weekend' during Thanksgiving holiday

The school district is encouraging its students to enjoy the weekend off free from homework.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Kenowa Hills Public Schools is allowing its students to enjoy their Thanksgiving break homework free.

The school district didn't assign any homework, projects or meetings to its students during their Thanksgiving break from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1, or as the district is calling it, their "wellness weekend."

"Sometimes we need to give ourselves permission to take a break and focus on the things that are truly important in our lives," the school district said on its website

This weekend is meant to allow students, staff and families to use this time to "refresh, relax, unwind and enjoy a well-deserved break with family and friends," as well as give students who are behind an opportunity to catch up, the district said.
