GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Michigan teachers have the opportunity to learn to code this summer in Grand Rapids as a part of a Code.org conference.
About 200 teachers will be learning computer science skills that they can then take back to their classrooms. Each teacher involved in the conference has committed to running a Computer Science class at their school in the 2018-19 school year.
The Code.org conference started on Sunday night, July 8 at the J.W. Marriott. Code.org is a non-profit organization that works on expanding access to computer science in schools.
In June, Gov. Snyder signed the Marshall Plan into law, which will give $100 million to Michigan's public high schools to train students for high demand jobs in sectors like information technology.
