Nassar healing fund may be up for vote at 1st MSU board meeting of 2019

The Board of Trustees is set to meet Wednesday morning and three new trustees will be in attendance.

The first Michigan State University Board of Trustees meeting is set to take place Wednesday, Jan. 9.

Three new trustees will be in attendance -- Brianna Scott, Kelly Tebay and Nancy Schlicting. The three will join Joel Ferguson, Dianne Byrum, Melanie Foster, Dan Kelly and Brian Mosallam on the current board.

The main agenda for the board's first meeting was selecting a new chairperson. The board selected Dianne Byrum to serve a two-year term as chair. Dan Kelly will serve as a two-year term vice chair. Both terms will end Jan. 13, 2021.

Another topic on their docket was the Healing Assistance Fund that interim President John Engler closed last month. Previously, board members condemned Engler's decision and were hopeful to reinstate it.

The next board meeting is scheduled for Feb. 15.
