It was standing room only at the Cedar Springs school board meeting Monday night, March 12.

The district has been divided ever since a petition called for the removal of the superintendent. Dr. Laura VanDuyn has been leading the district for the past three years, but some say she's done more harm than good.

"There is a terrible breakdown in communication in our district, and there has been for the past three years. We are not on the same page; I'm not even sure if we are on the same playbook," said a former school board member.

But there are also those who support the superintendent from those saying she has been a positive force in the district.

"Dr. VanDuyn, I respect you and I thank you for your leadership that's been here. You came with a vision, passion, excitement but there have been some that haven't been willing to give you a fair chance," said one person at the meeting.

The school board says they will not be taking any action at this time.
