Frigid air doesn't deter Polar Plunge participants in Muskegon

There are 30 Polar Plunge events happening in 2019.

MUSKEGON, Mich. — Saturday's temperatures were in the teens, but the freezing cold didn't stop people from jumping into Muskegon Lake for the annual Polar Plunge.

Starting at 2:30 p.m. participants started taking the plunge.

Each year, the event raises money for Special Olympics Michigan to provide free sports training, competition, health screenings and inclusive programs for more than 27,000 athletes in Michigan.

There are 30 Polar Plunge events happening in 2019, and the first events happened this weekend.
