Starting Thursday, Dec. 7, more than 500 McDonalds will be selling red-and-white striped knit winter hats to help support Ronald McDonald Houses across Michigan. There are five Ronald McDonald Houses in the state. They serve as a home-away-from home for families that have children hospitalized due to sickness or injury.
Each year Michigan's five Ronald McDonald Houses serve more than 3,550 families. The houses offer lodging facilities with laundry rooms, kitchens and living areas, as well as transportation services to help parents get to and from the hospitals where their children are being treated. However, the organization depends on generous supporters to provide those services.
McDonalds customers can help by purchasing a festive hat for $5.00 or a sticker for $1.00. Proceeds from the "Get Your Hat On Campaign" will be split between the Ronald McDonald Houses of Detroit, Western Michigan, Ann Arbor, C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, and Mid-Michigan. Hats can also be purchased online at www.rmhc-detroit.org, www.rmhwesternmichigan.org, www.rmhcannarbor.org, and www.rmhmm.org.
This is the third year of this fundraising campaign. Hats will be sold while supplies last.
