GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Police Department will hold the first sessions of a community trust building initiative Wednesday, June 27.
"Speed of Trust" will be at Grand Rapids Community College from 8 a.m. to noon. There is an alternate session from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Those interested in attending can sign up here.
GRPD has contracted a company known for helping people from all cultures communicate.
There will be a 1:1 ratio of officers and community members at each session, as well as interactive activities.
“There is a national and local dialogue around trust between the community and law enforcement. Just like in all of our personal relationships, communication, respect and commitment are the keys to growing a healthy community partnership,” Chief David Rahinsky said.
