Gun Lake Casino reopening bars, restaurants despite dine-in ban

The state's dine-in restaurant ban was extended until Feb. 1, however Gun Lake Casino is not bound to the state order.

WAYLAND, Mich. — Gun Lake Casino will resume dine-in services at its bars and restaurants on Friday, Jan. 15, despite the state's dine-in ban being extended until Feb. 1.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services updated the state's current epidemic order, relaxing some restrictions on indoor activities including group exercise and non-contact sports. However, bars and restaurants across the state will continue to be closed for dine-in services.

The new order is effective Saturday, Jan. 16 through Sunday, Jan. 31.

Gun Lake Casino is on tribal land and not bound to the state order. The casino said all its dining and drinking amenities will reopen on Friday, starting at 11 a.m. for Sandhill Cafe and 1 p.m. for Harvest Buffet.

According to the casino's Play It Safe initiative, minors are not currently allowed to dine at either Harvest Buffet or Sandhill Cafe.

Anyone interested in dining at either of Gun Lake Casino's restaurants will have to make a reservation.
