Cyclists in Bike MS expected to raise $350K for multiple sclerosis

More than 50 teams of cyclists set out to raise $350,000 to end MS.

HOLLAND, Mich. - This weekend, hundreds of cyclists were expected in Holland in order to raise money for multiple sclerosis awareness, research and cures.

Bike MS: Great Lakes West Michigan Breakaway 2018 had cyclist depart from the Hope College Dow Center on Saturday, June 9 and conclude the ride in the same location on Sunday. There were multiple routes riders could take each day, including 30, 50, 75 or 100 miles. All routes are well supported with fully-stocked rest stops every 10-12 miles, a great lunch stop each day and safety provided by medical personnel.

On Saturday, riders traveled south where they will enjoyed the views and the wineries and end at Hope College. Sunday began with a breakfast before heading north along Lake Michigan. The second and last day of Bike MS ended with a BBQ celebration at the finish line.

“Bike MS is an experience grounded in camaraderie that brings together cyclists of all levels for one reason – to create a world free of MS,” said Tammy Willis, National MS Society, Michigan Executive Director.

“Funds raised from this event support cutting-edge MS research as well as programs and services for people living with MS in this community.”

Organizers expected to see 50 teams of cyclists to raise $350,000 for multiple sclerosis awareness, research and cures.
