Falling is always dangerous, but as you get older, the effects of taking a tumble are even more serious. Laura Maclam, a registered nurse and injury prevention coordinator at Spectrum Health’s Butterworth Hospital, stopped by to discuss how we can prevent these accidents and protect ourselves and our loved ones from a fall.

Spectrum Health will host “Stand Up to Falling” on Friday, September 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Spectrum Health Walk-In Clinic at Hudsonville Meijer. The event will provide information and tips on preventing falls, such as slip-proof socks, plug-in night lights and grip strips for stairs and bath tubs.
