2 Saugatuck Twp. Board members resign at special meeting

The township's manager and supervisor have both resigned effective May 3.

SAUGATUCK, Mich. - Two members of the Saugatuck Township Board resigned Tuesday.

According to a statement from the board, the township's manager and zoning administrator, Natalie Dean, and the township's supervisor, Chris Roerig, both put in letters of resignation on Tuesday, April 23. The board held a special public meeting to receive those letters.

Both of their resignations are effective May 3, 2019.

“With all new jobs there is a probationary period that runs both ways," Dean explained in the statement. "I honestly just don’t feel like I am the right fit for the township or this board."

Roerig said the direction the Board was taking for the Township was "vastly different" from what he believed was best for the community. 

The Board says they will move forward without significant interruption to regular operations. There will be a regular month meeting on Wednesday, May 1 at 6 p.m.
