'Beyond Existence' exhibit coming to Meijer Gardens

Some of his work is already on display at Meijer Gardens, but now you'll get to see a lot more from Japanese sculptor Masayuki Koorida.

GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich -- On display this summer at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park will be a new exhibition called "Beyond Existence."

It's by Masayuki Koorida, who is well known in Asia and Europe, but this is his one of his first American exhibitions.

His new exhibition is both indoors and outdoors and features highly polished surfaces and gleaming stainless steel materials will be featured along with a series of extraordinary drawings made specifically for this presentation.

"There are great opportunities to be here, understand what's happening in this gallery space and then venture outside, see Masayuki's work and explore the beauty of what Meijer Gardens has to offer," said Meijer Gardens Vice President and Chief Curator Joseph Becherer.

There will be a reception for the opening of the exhibition, open to park members from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 24. To attend, you must RSVP online or contact Joann Wisnewski at 616-974-5222.

"Beyond Existence" will be at Meijer Gardens through August 19.
