ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — Hundreds of tires have been illegally dumped in Allegan County and authorities are trying to track down who did it.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources said that more than 500 tires have been dumped in several places in and around the Allegan State Game Area.

The DNR said a resident who walks the area every day spotted a large pile of tires on Wednesday and reported it. There were more than 300 tires on snowmobile trail #59. The DNR went on to say the resident confirmed with authorities that the tires were not there two days prior.

Since Wednesday, officers estimate they have located even more piles of tires in the state game area, as well as along roads between Allegan and Fennville.

Anyone with information as to where the tires are coming from or who is illegally dumping them should call or text the DNR Report All Poaching Hotline at 1-800-292-7800. All calls or texts will remain anonymous.
