GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - For the sixth year, Founders Brewing Co. has created a special beer just for ArtPrize.
This year's brew is called Trigo, which is Spanish for "wheat." It is a pale wheat lager, with what the brewing company describes as "big aromatics, rounded flavor and a clean finish."
Previous ArtPrize beers have included Green Zebra, Pale Joe, Spectra Trifecta and more.
The label for this year's special edition beer was designed by a Founders staff member. Cody Levon, a painter, created the original work that pays homage to classic artists and painting techniques.
Trigo will be released in 6-pack cans, and Founders says it will not be in bottles.
The beer will be released in Founders' taproom on Sept. 14, and it should hit store shelves in mid-September. It will be available in all 46 states that Founders distributes to.
ArtPrize 10 starts Sept. 19 and runs through Oct. 7.
