30-year-old motorcyclist died in crash with car in Walker

Witness told police that the motorcycle was traveling at a high speed when it hit the car.

WALKER, Mich. - A car and a motorcycle were involved in a crash on West River Drive NW on Sunday night around 6:45 p.m. according to Kent County dispatchers.

The motorcyclist was 30-year-old man Sergio Cruz-Almelda from Comstock Park, and he died on the scene.

Police said Cruz-Almelda was traveling south on West River Drive NW when he hit a car that had three people in it. The car was pulling out of a driveway to head north.

Witnesses told police that Cruz-Almelda was traveling at a high speed. He was wearing a helmet.

The car flipped over, and the driver and passengers had minor injuries.

West River Drive was blocked off from North Park Street to Lankamp Street while police investigated. The case will be sent to the Kent County Prosecutor's Office for a final review.
