A power pole was broken because of the crash, and Consumers Energy responded to assist.

COURTLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Investigators have identified the 68-year-old woman killed in a crash Monday around 6 p.m. in northern Kent County.

The Kent County Sheriff's Office says Anne Van Dommelen was headed south on Tefft Avenue when she missed the stop sign at 13 Mile Road NE in Courtland Township.

Van Dommelen crashed into a 2006 Mercury SUV driving west on 13 Mile Road. Police said 13 Mile Road has the right of way and does not have a stop sign.

Van Dommelen was pronounced dead at the scene. A 44-year-old man was driving the Mercury SUV, he along with an adult passenger and a 9-year-old passenger were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A power pole was broken because of the crash, and Consumers Energy responded to assist.

The crash is still being investigated and deputies do not know if drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
