A man who was shot inside a vehicle on Sunday afternoon was found dead in Detroit later that evening, according to police.
The Detroit police released a statement that said a 69-year-old man was a passenger in a brown Honda CR-V that pulled up on the 7300 block of Prairie Street on Detroit's west side Sunday afternoon. The driver of the vehicle, a 59-year-old man who has been taken into custody, reportedly exited the vehicle, argued with a witness, then shot at the witness and missed. The driver then turned and fired shots into the CR-V, striking the 69-year-old victim, police say.
The driver then got back into the car and sped off, police say. He was later arrested when he returned to the scene of the shootings, but the whereabouts of the CR-V and passenger were unknown until police located both near the intersection of Vancouver and Military streets, also on the city's west side.
Police say the victim had already died by the time the vehicle was discovered.
