Free or low-cost dental cleanings, oral cancer screenings and HPV shots offered in Muskegon

In recognition of April as National Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month, the Delta Dental Foundation and the Michigan Primary Care Association are teaming up to offer free oral cancer clinics at participating MPCA health centers across the state.

MUSKEGON, Mich. - April is National Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month and patients in Muskegon can receive free or low cost care at Hackley Community Care.

The Delta Dental Foundation and the Michigan Primary Care Association are teaming up to offer free oral cancer clinics at participating MPCA health centers across the state on Thursday, April 18. There will be dental cleanings and cancer screenings.

New this year—the first dose of the human papillomavirus (HPV)  shot will be administered to those who are eligible. HPV causes about 70 percent of oropharyngeal cancers in the U.S. and the vaccination can prevent most of the cancers from developing.

Muskegon residents interested in these free or low-cost services can be seen anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Hackley Community Care Dental Clinic located at 2700 Baker St.

To register, call 231-737-8603. Patients with insurance, should bring their insurance card and ID. Those who are uninsured, bring ID and proof of income for eligibility determination.
