Confirmed chickenpox in unvaccinated student at Grand Haven Area Public Schools

The student will be excluded from the campus and all school-related activities through Dec. 30.

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. - A case of chickenpox has been confirmed in an unvaccinated student attending a school in Grand Haven, according to the Ottawa County Department of Public Health.

The student attends Rosy Mound Elementary in Grand Haven Area Public Schools.

The health department says parents were notified and the student will be excluded from the campus and all school-related activities, through Dec. 30. The health department added that if you think your child had any contact with the student, you should contact your doctor.

Chickenpox is a highly contagious illness that generally starts with a slight fever, followed by a blister-like, itchy rash. For more information, click here.
