Grand Haven drawbridge malfunctioning for the second time in two days

The bridge also malfunctioned on Friday afternoon.

UPDATE: After causing traffic delays for the southbound lanes, the bridge problems were fixed and US-31 was re-opened.

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. - The Grand Haven drawbridge is having problems again.

On Saturday afternoon, around 4 p.m. the bridge started malfunctioning causing traffic backups for the southbound lanes on US-31.

Ottawa County dispatch is telling motorists to use M-231 as a detour while officials assess the situation.

The bridge also malfunctioned on Friday afternoon, shutting down both directions of US-31.
