You've seen people standing outside stores, hours before they open on black Friday, anxious to shop for those big bargains. Overnight, a group of West Michigan philanthropists had the same sort of idea in mind.

On the eve of Giving Tuesday, they were willing to spend time outside the Grand Rapids Community Foundation to be some of the first people to hand over a donation for Giving Tuesday at the stroke of midnight.

Stephanie Adams, Champion of #GRgives, is with the Johnson Center and organized a coalition of community partners to advance the movement in the community. #GRgives was born. #GRgives joins city-wide #GivingTuesday efforts across the country. From Baltimore to Lansing to Seattle, #GRgives on #GivingTuesday is a special call to action that brings diverse organizations and local communities together to give back.

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable gifting season when many people make holiday and year-end gifts.

#GRgives on #GivingTuesday is a city-wide campaign to raise funds, find volunteers and build awareness for local nonprofits. Steve Faber is one of many #GRgives donors who believes in helping nonprofits band together by promoting one resource for all to share their donation and volunteer opportunities, and one place for our community members to find all the ways they can give.
