Huff Park reopens in Grand Rapids with new boardwalk, playground

The funding for the renovations came from a $50,000 millage investment that was voted on in 2013.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The city of Grand Rapids unveiled the improvements and renovations to Huff Park on Friday, July 13.

Since September 2017, the city has been working on a new boardwalk, a new playground and updated bathrooms.

The city hosted a grand reopening event on Friday where residents could explore the boardwalk and participate in a kids' scavenger hunt.

The boardwalk had been closed because of broken and missing deck pieces. The new boardwalk is elevated and stretches over 3,500 feet. There is also an outlook for bird watchers and nature lovers.

The funding for the renovations came from a $50,000 millage investment that was voted on in 2013. More information about the city's future, current and past park projects can be seen at grandrapidsmi.gov.
