One dead in Grand Rapids shooting, GRPD investigating

The shooting occurred around 9:10 p.m. at Cambridge Square Apartments on Mason Street NE. 

UPDATE, Oct. 23 4:55 p.m.: The victim of the shooting has been identified as Daran Adams-Jackson, 22. The autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound, and the manner of death was homicide.

Original story: Police are investigating after a man was found dead in his apartment.

The incident occurred at Cambridge Square Apartments on Mason Street NE in Grand Rapids around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22.

Police say a 911 call came in that the man was found unresponsive in his home. Police and medical units responded and confirmed that the victim was deceased.

The victim appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound but the cause and manner of death will not be determined until an autopsy is performed.

The victim's identification will not be released until proper notifications to next of kin can be made.

Police do not have any suspect in custody.
