GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Summer is just around the corner and if you live in Grand Rapids and plan on having a fire in your backyard -- you're going to need approval from the city.

The City of Grand Rapids is accepting applications for recreational fires, starting Thursday, May 9.  The permit will cost $50.

The city won't approve your permit if you don't review the requirements -- which include how far away the pit should be from your home or any other structure and drawing up a site plan.

The recreational fire permit will also need to be renewed every year.

For all the details, visit the city's website.
